As Exthetics said on Facebook, what career is Smart enough to save your life; skilled enough to make you look beautiful? This career works to help their patients feel confident, and good in their skin, and meet their desired looks (“What is Aesthetic Nursing & How do I Become an Aesthetic Nurse?”). This career is as a registered aesthetic nurse. In order to appreciate a career in aesthetic registered nursing, one must first understand the education/ training, advancements/ salary, and benefits/ hazards. Next, one must understand the advancements and salaries of an aesthetic registered nurse. Aesthetic RNs who want to advance their career can further their education and become a nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, one may stay on the aesthetic route or move to a different specialization (Schlette). To become a nurse practitioner, one must obtain a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (Smith). The average registered aesthetic nurse salary in the United States is $90,823. The average salary in Illinois is $80,905 (“Average Aesthetic Nurse Salary in Illinois”). The highest average is in California with an average of $133,840. The national average hourly wage is $49.11 (Schlette). If one advances to an aesthetic nurse practitioner, one will be making an average of $130,295 a year in the United States. Another hazard is that aesthetic nurses run the risk of being sued. This is because some patients get unhappy with their appearance after procedures. The next hazard is that aesthetic nurses don't get any overtime work in a medical spa. Another hazard would be that aesthetic nurses cannot perform the same procedures in every state. Lastly, one will still be working even when they are not at work. This is because a lot of aesthetic nurses have to promote on social media to up their clientele (Schlette). Next, one must understand the benefits that come with being an aesthetic nurse. The first benefit is that aesthetic nurses are on the rise right now. Botox and other cosmetic procedures are in high demand. The next benefit is that aesthetic nurses make good money and the paycheck only gets higher the more years one works. Another benefit is that aesthetic nurses do not have to work weekends or holidays since some will be working in a Medi-spa (Schlette).
