Women have been mistreated and have been viewed as less than men for years. It is absolutely appalling knowing that although there has been countless laws passed over the past 70 years, people continue to view and treat women as though they are not as strong and powerful as men. There are many feminist groups that try and try to get equal pay and equal rights for woman. I know this sounds like taboo or something from the 50’s but it isn’t, women around the world are constantly ridiculed, underpaid and mistreated for years. But it seems that every year women get closer and closer to actually being equal to men; equal isn’t just a word it is a title that women have earned but not received.

But when you show disrespect in Afghanistan towards men you can be sentenced to serve time in prison. The government is so unjust that one woman was actually sentenced to 12 years in prison for “adultery” after she was raped. In another case a woman was actually tortured by her husband for refusing to prostitute herself to other men. The constant abuse these women face on a day to day basis is absolutely appalling and unjust; it is something that needs to change now. This is an issue that has been in debate and in media many times but it is very hard to change an entire government when they have been doing the same thing for so long. I guess the saying old habits die hard is a saying that can some up the entirety of this topic. It is absolutely devastating knowing that some women are willing to actually hurt themselves to get away from their husbands that they were forced to marry.
