African Americans aren't attending college after they graduate from school then what are they doing; they're going to prison. “In 2000 there were 791,600 black men in prison and 603,032 enrolled in college. In 1980, there were 143,000 black men in prison and 463,700 enrolled in college”.(http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0881455.html. In recent studies they have found a young black male without a high school diploma has a 59% chance of being incarcerated before his 35thbirthday ( http://revcom.us/a/144/BNQ-en.html).
Moreover, African Americans have become accustomed to the unfair treatment given out by policemen. Black men are constantly harassed ,and accused of various crimes based off the color of their skin. Some will say ,what does this have to do with the oppression of blacks and I will respond saying everything. Americans should not have to fear walking ,or driving past a policemen. “Whether it be the Rodney King incident, the MOVE bombing, or Geronimo Pratt's unjust incarceration, the police have continually treated minorities, especially black citizens, with disdain, disrespect, and hatred.”(http://academic.udayton.edu/race/03justice/s98blake.htm)
“The young man was shot 41 times while reaching for his wallet”…“the 13-year-old was shot dead in mid-afternoon when police mistook his toy gun for a pistol”… “the unarmed young man, shot by police 50 times, died on the morning of his wedding day”… “the young woman, unconscious from having suffered a seizure, was shot 12 times by police standing around her locked car”… “the victim, arrested for disorderly conduct, was tortured ,and raped with a stick in the back of the station-house by the arresting officers.
