When it comes to segeregation there are many people who are not very well informed on the genuine reality of civil rights and freedoms. Many of them don’t know what actually happened and are unaware of things that could change their whole perspective on what they think segregation and civil rights. For example, in the Freedom Summer article it states that “I never really knew that white people could be on black people’s side,’’ Hunter said. “When I go back to my town, I want to tell everyone about it”. Here this woman is completely unaware of how some white people actually believe in African Americans gaining their freedom.Martin Luther King once said, “We know through painful experience that freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed.” Freedom will never just be willingly given to all people even though it may seem like it should. …show more content…
They were even willing to give up their lives for what they tried to achieve, to show how everything must always be fought for. Others have even gone to the extent of making articles trying to give all people the same rights, but there will always be people refusing to comply and go against what has been said. So those rights may not always be given to all people because they don't believe in equality thus making them having to fight for their already given rights. It is important for people to have a global view of civil rights and freedoms so they understand the lengths people are willing to go for their deserved rights and understand how much retaliation there is in trying to attain the rights and freedoms everyone
