I sit staring blankly at the television screen as the news flashes to a black body in the street uncovered and on display for the numerous news crews surrounding the body like vultures. As the news drones on about how the person slain was just another thug, or a problem that would’ve been dealt with later by the corrections system; my heart aches for the boy’s family who lost a loved one due to the senseless violence of a police officer.
In the last two years, there has been an increase in police brutality against African Americans. The racial tension in the United States has also increased due to this recent violence. Because of the racial tension and increased policing of African American communities black voices have failed to be heard
