The Black Panthers Party is an African American Revolutionary Party. In Oakland, California, October 15,1966 this organization was born by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale (African American Registry). It was a organization that was formed for Self-Defense.The Black Panther’s believed that Martin Luther King’s non-violent campaign had failed and something else should be done. Back In 1966 Racism and Discrimination was at large. The Black Panthers just wanted some type of security from the police. A quote from African American Registry States, “The Party established patrols in Black communities to monitor police activities and protect the residents from police brutality”. There was over 10,000 Blacks who were helped by health and education initiatives.(Achievements) By 1969, 49 Black Panther clinics were opened all across America.(Achievements) Black Power was very influential in the media and entertainment.(Achievements) The media also kind of helped gain black people a positive image. Some of the former black panthers are, Mutulu Shakur who was a criminal activist. Miriam Makeba who was a civil rights Activist, Singer. Eldridge Cleaver who was a Journalist, a Civil Rights Activist.(Biography) There were many people in the the organization who made impacts on people's lives. The two Official founders of the Panthers was Huey P. Newton a Author, Civil Rights Activist. Not all white people are bad. The Panthers weren't about abusing anyone. All the Panthers wanted to do was help the black communities be who god made them to be. The Black Panther Party remains the largest revolutionary African-American organization ever created. Black Panthers are still active today, doing everything they can do for communities that need help. The Black Panthers are mainly focusing on; Equality in education, housing, employment and civil rights. All they want is to help us black people get equal treatment. The Black Panthers were influenced by the teachings of Malcolm X, who was assassinated in 1965, one year before the initial formation of the Black Panthers.
