In the society, there is a circumstance called stereotype which is a conformity conception toward a certain group. On the basis of stereotype, everyone in this group is identified as a crowd regardless of how individual owns its particular characteristic. On the other hand, stereotypes limit personal development and identification. In Amy Tan’s “Mother Tongue”, she states a systematic opinion toward Asian Americans. People think Asian Americans can’t successful as writers because their grades on science and math are much higher than that on English class. Similarly, within the United States, society not only has prejudice on Asian Americans, but also owns stereotype on other minority, such as African American. African Americans are stereotyped as savage since most of them always speak loudly in either public place or private occasion. In people’s perspective, if a person keeps the voice down, it can best demonstrates his/her manner. What’s more, African Americans also accused as violence and danger. These negative stereotypes toward African Americans occur due to the frequently criminal case happened within the United States in recent years. For instance, if a robbery case exist, people’s intuition guide them to make relationship with American Americans, so that people will have aspersion on African Americans without evidence. One of the biggest influence is that people may keep away from this minority group. Because people are terrified of them since African Americans are capricious. Consequently, people guess whether this changeable sentiment are caused by the drug which can readily alter people’s behavior. For instance, most African Americans like singing song in front of the public, particularity the pop music. People might think that all African Americans are active since the characteristic of pop music is passionate and intense. What’s more, people believe African Americans are good at sports because there are lots of black athlete in the United States, such as the football team in each state. Furthermore, African Americans are stereotyped as liking group activity. For the reason is that they always stay with their friends or play together in the park. Meanwhile, in this minority group, some African Americans are taciturn, delicate or alone. They like classical music instead of pop music, but it doesn’t represent they don’t have an intense mind on their lives.
