“Life or Death” by Tia Hill
Summary: The beginning of the story depicts Hill as sad and alone. She starts off by telling the audience how she was crying because she felt unloved and alone. Even though her husband was right beside her he had gotten so accustomed to her cries that it was background noise to him. Hill had gotten so frustrated of being ignored by a man that she was married to and loved but did not love her back. One day she decides to take her husband’s gun and presses it against her temple in front of her husband to grab his attention after he finally noticed her she pulled the trigger but the gun was empty. Hill’s suicide had landed her a spot in a hospital and prescriptions to help her with her depression. Hill’s doctors changed her medication around trying to see which one would take her out of her depression but instead she got even more depressed because the medication had made her gain 70 pounds. After she had left the hospital her husband had moved on with someone else while they were still married. Her divorce left her feeling even worse and she had found evidence that her husband has been unfaithful to her during their marriage. This evidence lead her to have an emotional breakdown, she felt as if she nothing to lives for but he friends and family told her if she would not live for herself then she should live for her two infant children at the time. Under the instruction of her sister she was told to write a letter to her husband about how he mistreated her during their marriage. When she was done she wept like she has never done before.
