Age of Imperialism and its effects on Europe’s and Africa’s society. The Age of Imperialism affected the whole world. Africa is the one that is the most affected. Imperialism has been one of the major factors that started WWI. This is because there were jealousies between countries all over the world. What started the Age of Imperialism? What was its motives? In an indirect rule, the Parent county allows native to rule their own colony supervised by a governor. Protectorates is when a bigger country takes care of and protects a smaller country. The relationship between the US and Cuba is an example. A parent country protects the smaller one for economic benefits through trade, national security, missionaries, educators, and humanitarians. In this system, the smaller country keeps their own rules, laws, and courts, but the downfall is that the parent country still tells them what to do. Sphere of Influence is where several countries carve out their own area with in another country and dominate itsm military, economic, and social life from within the sphere of influence.
The impact of imperialism on Africa’s society are negative. Traditions were broken and borders rearranged. This rearrangement of borders caused wars between tribes. The europeans forced them into labor and forced their religion on the natives. The impact on Europe’s society, was positive.
