Introduction
Palm oil is treated as one of the healthiest edible oils in the market today. The oil is mainly manufactured in Indonesia and Malaysia, which are the leaders of producers. This oil is not edible in its initial state and therefore the crude palm oil refinery is very important.
So the topic that our group will discuss today is two key unit operations used for the purification of CPO.

As shown in the figure the process to get pure oil is going through these stages but today we will discuss about process on the left side, which is the process for Crude Palm Oil.

The process of oil extraction is starting from bunch reception where you weigh the whole fruit bunches and threshing and then sterilize the fruit bunch by using high temperature to loose the fruit.~~~
The reason why I am going through the process is the purification stages occur in Digestion pressing and also clarification part.

There are some differences in these two purification stages. In the first process, which happens in digestion and pressing stage, the purification method is used to separate the oil from the fruit bunch since the palm bunch include mesocarp fibre, empty fruit bunch, shell and POME.
But The second operation of purification that occurs in clarification is to refine the oil from impurities such as water, cell debris, fibrous material and non-oily solids

Ill go through Purification in Digestion and pressing stage
The first purification that occurs is heating. This process is to decrease the viscosity of the oil and completes the disruption of the oil cells
As shown in the photos the fruit bunches will be transferred to the steam-heated cylindrical vessel to reduce the viscosity of oil
This is optional but when the facilities have the heat insulation and steam injections, it can help to maintain their contents at elevated temperatures during this operation.
The second stage of the purification is pressing. Although the extracted oil from digestion stage has low viscosity, the oil is still mixed with the fruit bunches with solid impurities. In that case these cooked fruit bunches can be squeezed in presser to extract the liquid typed oil. In the stages, most of big solid type of impurities such as empty fruit bunchs and shells are removed
