. Jimmy Doyle and Agustus Lemay are both fifteen year old boys who have difficult lives. Although they had many hardships, both boys were born with the passion and talent to play basketball. The boys were picked to play for the USA Dream Team. It seems like they have things in common but because Agustus is African American and Jimmy is white, Agustus immediately resents Jimmy for being white as well as for taking his cousin’s spot on the team. They arrived in West Los Angeles where they all met for the first time. From the first time they met Agustus made racial remarks and treated Jimmy very poorly. Agustus once went up to Jimmy and said this after Jimmy asked who Devonne Sanders ( Agusutus’ cousin) was, “ He ‘s the guy who should be the other starting guard, but they dropped him to put some whitebread on our team, that’s you Mr. Minnesota.” As time passed, Jimmy and Agustus started to talk more. One time Jimmy went up to Agustus and said, “ it’s unfair to judge me because I am white. Danger Zone by David Klass is a book about racism and judging people before getting to know how they really are. A person’s color or culture does not mean that a person does not belong. I believe this to be the main idea because throughout what I read of the story this idea keeps occurring in many different situations but in my opinion for such a “childish” (or what seems to be) book this story carries a deeper meaning of equality and when I came to this realization I was dumbfounded and I know it wasn't required but I believed that I needed to say it not only to get a better grade but prove that what seems shallow on the surface can drown you in meaning in
