It would be impossible to talk about serial killer without discussing Aileen Wuornos. “When humans are young, their world revolves around their parents or primary care-givers. Parents or care-givers are the primary source of safety, security, love, understanding, nurturance and support. Child abuse violates the trust at the core of a child’s relationship with the world” (Walker, 1994). Before Aileen Wuornos became known to be one of the first female serial killer she was a victim of child abuse. Aileen was rape, abandoned, and mistreated by those closest to her. Moreover, Aileen later on carry her painful childhood with her.
Aileen Wuorons was born in Rochester, Michigan on February 29, 1956. At a young age, Aileen Wuornos was abandoned by her mother and her father was a child molester whom later on committed suicide in prison. Aileen and her elder brother was raised by their grandparents. Aileen grandmother was an alcoholic and her grandfather was a violent man. Aileen killed 51 years old “Richard Mallory” and then claim it was an act of self-defense. Afterward, Aileen went on killing seven men, and eventually got caught due to her getting in a car accident. “After she was convicted of the first murder of Richard Mallory, she then pled guilty to the others, and after a certain point in time she started to recant and say she wasn't a victim, she simply robbed and killed those men to gain their personal property and to gain money”.
