Alcatraz was home to some of the most dangerous criminals and gangsters around the world. The prisoners had been involved with prohibition and had been their gang’s leader and they would have a club that would sell and make alcohol when it was illegal. Most of the prisoners had been brought to Alcatraz in the middle of the night so no other people would know where they were. Al Capone was probably the most dangerous of all of the criminals. He would kill anyone that got in his way or made his plan fail, but he could only do that if he had a weapon. Al Capone was a gangster during prohibition. Kelly had lost his wife and decided to become a gangster also because he had no job. He had been in jail many times before for trafficking and smuggling alcohol. He got his name because his favorite weapon was a machine gun. Kelly had been sent to Alcatraz because he had done many federal crimes for example kidnapping and bank robberies. He had done these thing so much that he had been taken to Alcatraz. Robert Stroud also know as “The Birdman of Alcatraz”, was proven guilty for manslaughter. He was sent out to McNeil Island in washington state. Stroud had been sent to many prisons for murder and violence in other prisons. In one of the prisons he had found an injured bird and he had discovered his liking for birds. Soon he had started the make different breeds of birds and he had researched a big amount of birds. That is how Stroud had gotten the nickname “The Birdman”. Alcatraz had been a super prison that had to be closed due to expensiveness. All of the prisoners had been transferred to another super max prison that or they will be done with their time in prison. The prison had been closed in 1963 and had been around for 29 years. Some of the prisoners had escaped during the closing of Alcatraz, but some of them had been found. The others had not been found and had never been seen again.
