The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender or submission. Americans are very strong and have the passion, courage, and the commitment to protect their nation. Kennedy knew that the United States freedom would be at risk in the future and wanted Americans mentalities to be that they will protect that freedom. If an enemy nation or group intends to harm the Nation of red white and blue and immediate actions and precaution will be taken to protect the country with complete support from citizens. The United States does not tolerate terrorist attacks directed towards the country; Al Qaeda succeeded with a cruel attack the brought sock worldwide and left American Hopeless, devastated and furious. Fighting for freedom is what Americans do and learning from a young age, that no other person, group, or nation has the right to interfere with the freedom of others: if brave enough, to carry on one of these events, the provoker must be aware the America will fight back somehow to insure safety and too avoid similar events.
It began among the morning rush hours in one the nation's busiest cities. Hijacked and rerouted for New York flew two American Airlines jets. American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City (history.com) the impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors (history.com). As the evacuation of the tower and its twin got underway live images of what initially appeared to be a freak accident were viewed by weary Americans. Then, 18 minutes after the first plane hit, (history.com) a second Boeing 767–United Airlines Flight 175–appeared out of the sky, with a sharp toward the World Trade Center, The jetfuled packed bomb sliced into the south tower near the 60th floor (history.com). The collision caused a massive explosion that showered burning debris over surrounding buildings and the streets below. How could this happen and why was America targeted someone might ask. Well it all started with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, an Al Qaeda operative who whet to Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden with plans to carry out bin Laden’s desire to kill Americans (Patrick J. Kiger). At first the plans included assassinating President Bill Clinton and Pope John Paul II, attacking nuclear plants in the U.S., Great Britain, planting and detonating bombs on a dozen airliners headed for the U.S. from Asia, so that they would explode over the Pacific, killing thousands of passengers (Patrick J. Kiger). As time progressed these plans seemed to fade and the ideal of hijackers seizing planes and flying them into buildings, killing thousands of people at once started to emerge. (Patrick J. Kiger). Eventually, in March or April 1999, bin Laden summoned Mohammed to Kandahar, where he informed him that he had decided to go ahead with a modified version of Mohammed’s original proposal. Planning for the plot, which Al Qaeda called the “planes operation,” (Patrick J. Kiger). Bin Laden liked the basic idea of hijacking planes and flying them into buildings making a political statement. Bin Laden wanted to hit the White House and the Pentagon, while Mohammed also wanted to hit the World Trade Center and all wanted to destroy the U.S. Capitol. (Patrick J. Kiger) This idea seemed to have a certain natural appeal to Al Qaeda.
Could attacks similar to the attacks carried out on September 11 ever happen again? Americans sure hope not because of the unsteady feeling that people are out there plotting to kill American. The good news is that Attacks would unlikely be Hijacked planes flying into buildings. Since 9/11 airport and air travel security has increased tremendously.
