Claudette Colvin had an extreme amount of determination. This is mainly because Claudette would not get out of her seat to move to the back, just because a white person wanted to sit in the front. Now, when I think about determination, I thought about Alexander Hamilton, whom I have read about (and have learned about in the "Hamilton" soundtrack). Now, in this instance, Colvin has exhibited determination because of the Montgomery bus incident, where she did not get up to give her seat up to a white person. In the back of her mind, she thought of other Civil Rights activists in the back of her mind such as Sojourner Truth, who figuratively pushed her back down on the seat, saying "Girl, you can't get up," and Harriet Tubman as well. Moving on, Hamilton portrays determination, because he was determined to get the New U.S. Constitution ratified. He completed this by recruiting two others, James Madison and John Jay, to write 25 essays in total, the work evenly split among the three, defending the Constitution. It was called the Federalist Papers and in the end, they wrote 85 essays over a period of 6 months. John Jay wrote 5, Madison wrote 29, and Hamilton wrote the other 51 ESSAYS. In the end, U.S. Constitution did get ratified. There, Hamilton and Colvin both showed determination when trying to prove their points and achieve their goals. Furthermore, there are two other very crucial occurrences of which Hamilton and Colvin represented the attribute of determination. Starting off with Colvin, she also showed the characteristic of determination by advancing civil rights and trying to earn equality overall. She courageously challenged many segregation laws when the idea of a bus boycott came around.
