Comparing Cinematic Techniques in Tim Burton films

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland have a lot of cinematic techniques that are the same and that make the same effect. A lot of the movies contain special effects, low key lighting and camera movement. In both the movies there is a lot of low key lighting.
In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland there is low key lighting. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, there is low key lighting when Charlie, Willy and everybody else go through the tunnel to go to the room where they’re making candy. This makes the effect scary because it makes the viewers feel trapped and that there is no way out. In Alice in Wonderland, there is low key lighting when Alice is in the room after she fell down the hole. This makes the effect scary because the room has dim lights and it makes the viewers wonder if Alice will get out of the room. In addition to low key lighting, there are a lot of special effects.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the camera zooms in when Willy Wonk opens the door to the room where you can eat everything. This makes the effect entertaining because it grabs your attention. When the camera zooms in, the viewers can see all the candy, which grabs the viewer’s attention because it’s beautiful. In Alice in Wonderland, the camera zooms in when Alice is falling down the hole. This makes the effect scary, because when she is falling down the hole, there is a piano right on top of her. It also makes the effect entertaining because it grabs the viewer’s attention because she falls down the hole
