Wrigley. Philip was born on December 5th, 1894, in Chicago, Illinois. He was born the second child, but he was an only child because Philip’s parents had a miscarriage with the first born. Philip started working in the family business at age 20. Instead of going to college he went to Australia to start the new Wrigley plant there. Philip’s father William Wrigley Jr owned the chewing gum manufacture, and he passed it down to Philip. He became the executive in Major League Baseball and he owns the American Chewing Gum Manufacturer. Philip was coach of the Chicago Cubs, and he was very successful with them. Although, he was more of a businessman instead of a baseball man. He brought Wrigley's CO. to success, but when it came to baseball he was always stuck on what to do. Even though the Cubs were successful Philip did not like to be in public so he never went out on the field or was shown in the newspaper. He once quoted that “ Baseball is too much of a sport to be a business, and too much of a business to be called a sport.” Soon baseball fans started to get smaller due to the war, but Wrigley wanted to start something new. Philip was the founder of All American Girls’ Professional Baseball League. He was going to use the money earned from the games for charity and war effort. A fefw years later Philip married Helen Blanche Atwater on March 26, 1918. He had three kids; Dorothy Wrigley, Ada Wrigley, and William Wrigley. This was the life about Philip Knight
