Choreographer Alvin Ailey’s Revelations’ is a classic tribute to the African-American heritage and to Ailey's genius. The performance took place at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in 2012. Using African-American traditional spirituals, this performance showcased the places of deepest grief and holiest joy in the soul. The dancers were dressed in traditional African clothes and the weight of the clothes was light, helping them move efficiently and fast. In the beginning, the dancers seem to resemble a flock of birds expressing to take flight. With the movement of the arms resembling a flock of birds representing they are ready to take a leap of faith on taking off for an adventure.
