Alzheimer’s is a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behaviour’s. It isn’t a normal part of ageing, Alzheimer’s disease get worst over time and ultimately is fatal. Although symptoms can vary widely, the first problem that many people notices is forgetfulness, severe enough to affect their ability to function at home or at work to enjoy feeling hobbies. Alzheimer’s disease progresses and affects different parts of the brain, various abilities and behaviours become impaired. At present, once one’s ability is lost it is not known to return. A person’s ability to understand, think, remember and communicate will be affected. The ability to make decisions will be reduced, simple tasks have been performed for years, will become more difficult or would be forgotten, the ability to find right words and follow the communication will be affected. The person’s emotions and mood will change slowly, they may lose interest in their hobbies that they enjoyed previously. Changes will develop in the way that the person reacts to his or her environment. Some of the common reactions include repeating or words, hiding possession, physical outburst and restlessness. The disease can affect a person’s physical conditions and mobility and independence to perform day to day task.

Mobility consideration for Alzheimer disease clients:
A person in the late stage of ALD becomes dependent-bed-ridden or chair bound. A lack of mobility may lead to skin breakdown, pressure source and contractures * Change the person’s position, at least every 2 hours to relive pressure and improve skin moisture. Make the person as comfortable and keep the body alignment. Use pillows to support arms and legs, talk with the nurse about the proper techniques for lifting and transferring with limited mobility to prevent injury. There are devices and equipment that needs adaption to aid mobility.

Regard For Personal Hygiene, Grooming and Dressing:

This task is frustrating for the clients with ALD. The PSW have to pay attention to their oral hygiene, reduces the risk of bacteria in their mouth, use the soft brush for their teeth, and if they are unable to practice, the PSW must do the task, if they are able to do it themselves the PSW must encourage them to do the task.

The PSW must gave chance for the client to select their favorite clothes, but try offering only two choices. Most of Alzheimer’s disease they don’t know how dress themselves and they get frustrated with themselves. The PSW must encourage them to be calm and talk with respectfully and make them feel comfortable, so they find trust in the PSW.
PSW must clean their body regularly and wash them often, which reduces their body odour and must clean them and wipe them after toileting and then pay attention to their grooming, if they need and would like to put makeup, PSW must accompany them if needed.

Consideration for safety:

In the early stages of Alzheimer’s, PSW must always be supervise them because they are wondering around, the doors must be always closed with alarm and their environment have to safe without any dangerous
