Prior to watching this video, my knowledge and experience with Alzheimer’s is limited. The only interaction with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders was with a great aunt I had barely known. However, after watching this video, I didn’t realize how much I didn’t actually know about the disease and it how much it actually affects the person as well as their families. This video was eye-opening and showed a new, but real experience of Alzheimer's. This perspective changed my perception of the disease because I didn’t realize how physically destructive and degenerative it is to those afflicted.
This experiment ass a whole was very interesting and well executed. You cannot full grasp what is happening in their minds, without experiencing similar situations yourself. Providing a simulation that hindered and amplified impairments that are common to those who suffer from Alzheimer's aided to the videos arguments. Furthermore, common items were used in a way that the viewers can imagine or remember similar feelings. For instance, I am familiar with the feeling of wearing googles and not being able to see, as well as the chalky and irritating feeling of gloves. Not typically a challenging task to an average individual, but nearly impossible when is the simulation. With tied fingers and noises, it is no wonder as to why day to day life I tiresome. Not being able to perform simple tasks while others are constantly questioning you or yelling at you is both upsetting and frustrating. These physically aliments weren’t asked for and to lack support and sympathy from your friends and relatives is heart-breaking.
