“In January of 1939, Amelia Earhart was officially declared dead” (Rothman) Amelia Earhart Had a target to attempt the impossible, Fly around the world near the equator. When she took off July 1st, off of new Guinea, Earhart made it 1,500 miles south of hawaii before crashing. Even though looking for her was a good thing, there were a lot of effects because of it.

There were many effects of looking for amelia earhart but, one of the effects was that looking for her endangered the searchers. (Rothman) “The government launched the most expensive search ever undertaken for a single aircraft. For 16 days, 10 vessels, 4,000 cremen, and 65 aircraft searched an area of the Pacific roughly the size of Texas without turning up a single clue.”(Rothman)
