American Experience, a PBS program that shares stories with us from our history, displays the very events and tools that shaped our nation. Their film: Scottsboro Trials, was a moving and informative movie about racism in America and the impact it has left on us. To this day, this movie still has an important message to teach and show. Racism is still a problem and more than likely always will be, this is a sad part of life that we must do our best to deal with. American Experience puts racism up in our faces and reminds us of what we have done. This film opens up our eyes to our past and in doing so, makes us better people.

With each new trial, they were found guilty and given the death trial. Just like clockwork, the case would be re-opened and the boys could rest easy for a little while. With Sam Leibowitz working day in and day out for the right thing to happen, non of it mattered. He used props and models, inspected the witnesses, and did everything in his power to help those boys. On their last case, Leibowitz was removed from his position and lowered to a position with no power. He was no longer their lawyer. Instead, the boys were given a new lawyer, who not only was a white Alabamian, but was also racist. That's when a miracle happened. Just when the boys received what they thought was their last death sentence, their case was lifted AGAIN. The government felt like the jury wasn't comprised of the boy's peers. The jury was 100% white. This obviously was unfair and that issue was recognized. Blacks were added to the jury to give the boys a fair trial.. This would set a prime example in our world today. Everybody will always have a fair trial made up of those who aren't against
