Western imperialism found a home in many places such as Africa, Asia, and the Americas who all lacked Industrialization which the Europeans had acquired. The Europeans and Americans dominated their subjects who were used to produce many resources their colonial rulers needed. In return to imperialism, some benefits and hardships were brought along in the form of social, economic, and political effects which were also lasting effects until after the colonized societies gained independence. First, imperialism in the Americas, Africa, and Asia gave the people who were colonized a few social benefits. An example of this was in India. A prime example of imperialism politically helping the colonized people was education. Education brought smart, well-educated minds in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Well educated men were able to help their country find independence by creating well-planned revolts against the colonial rulers. Two very well educated men were Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. These two men greatly contributed in the fight for independence within their own countries, India and South Africa. In essence, the Europeans colonized Africa and India, but instead of maintaining the colonization, European education helped decolonize the colonies because the education was taught to many men like Gandhi and Mandela. Imperialism still left a mark on India because the British helped set India up with a template by slowly granting them power as the Indians were fighting for independence. Furthermore, independence for Hindustan took place over a lot of time. This large time period was accompanied by the British giving slightly more power to the Indians. This gave the Indians more experience in a political setting, allowing them to have a stronger and better-built government than other nations when they gained independence because India had time to experiment a little with the government.
