According to the American Temperament Test Society, only 69.8 percent of Chihuahuas pass a temperament test compared to the 86.8 percent of American Pitbull’s (CITATION NEEDED). This is showing that smaller dogs can tend to be more aggressive than the larger ‘aggressive’ canine breeds. Breeds such as Pitbull’s, Rottweilers, and German Shepard’s are constantly disrespected because of a predominantly negative perception. It is a popular belief that large breeds, mentioned previously, are naturally wired to be aggressive. Due to the incorrect viewpoint, many canines are banned from dog parks, apartment complexes, and sometimes even veterinarian offices. Even though feared by many, powerful breeds are not aggressive when born but can sadly develop aggressive tendencies based on the type of training received, the treatment, and the disposition of the individual dog.

After she lost an important fight, her owners poured gasoline over her and lit her on fire. A rescue organization saver her life and she recovered from her burns, but it was clear that her horrific experience had turned her into a dangerously human-aggressive dog. She started biting people. I heard about Rosemary after she attacked two elderly men, and immediately offered to take her and try to rehabilitate her.
Rosemary was presented to me as a deadly, dangerous dog. When I brought her to the Center, however, turning her around proved to be a piece of cake.
