The American Revolution came about primarily through an evolving series of congresses, series of meetings, and an very extravagant wars. One of the congresses that occurred during the American Revolution was The First Continental Congress meeting held in Philadelphia in 1774, where the idea of boycotting British goods began. In 1775 after the American forces won the battle of Lexington and Concord the Second Continental Congress was established once again in Philadelphia. This time a discussion on extending the Olive Branch Petition. One of the prime meetings held was because of Samuel Adams and his idea with the Committee of Correspondence in 1772. But of course the people of Britain and the people of America were not going to go without a fight. Although most fights were in Europe they were also fought in the New World. Most of the British troops were American colonists who soon attacked Canada and some places in the West Indies. The British commander William Pitt had 3 main goals on mind. One being capturing some of the Canadian cities (Louisburg, Quebec, and Montreal). After the war the French and the British came up with an idea of a treaty. The treaty being the Treaty of Paris.

After the French and Indian war Britain had a very scarce amount of goods in their pocketbook. There was only one way to make some profit back and that was by passing the Sugar Act. The Sugar Act was an act that taxed imported sugar from the West Indies. In the same year the Quartering Act was passed so that residents of the colonies fed and house British soldiers serving in America.
