My Death: A Slow One

I was wandering around the festival grounds with a full cup of beer. I had on a jester costume and I was having the time of my life. As I walked around I saw my dearest friend Montresor. He was pleased to meet me and said to me, “But I have received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts.” I had a tingling feeling inside, half of it was because of all the beer I drank and the other half was because I was excited that my friend had Amontillado. Amontillado is a rare sherry that I absolutely enjoy drinking, but I have not had any for years because it is so expensive and hard to find. I told him to take me to the Amontillado instead of Luchresi and was reluctant at first. However, with my persuasive character I convinced him to take me instead.

I got all excited again and ran to the Amontillado. I was looking around for the Amontillado but I couldn’t seem to find it. Montresor then chained me to a wall, and I thought he was just playing a game. However, Montresor then began to build a wall that locked me in the hole. I laughed and laughed, thinking this was all a joke. I told Montresor to stop this joke so we can head back to the festival. Montresor smiled at me and laughed back. He continued to build the wall. I was now screaming to Montresor to let me go. Montresor ignored me, so I began to pray to God hoping a miracle would happen. Montresor slid the last brick in the hole and everything went pitch black. I heard Montresor mumble, “Rest in peace.” I screamed, yelled, and tried to get out. Nothing seemed to work. Slowly, the air around me became dense and my heart rate slowed down. “This is it.” I thought to myself, “I am done for
