An Effective Leader In Odysseus In Homer's The Odyssey

The Odyssey When most people think of Odysseus they think of an effective leader, a man whose bravery put his men before him at times, who got out of situations with his cleverness and was very resourceful. In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus shows these traits and many more during his long journey home to Ithaca after fighting in the Trojan War.
Odysseus is shown being very clever and keen. Odysseus was able to use keen skills when he defeated The Cyclops. To be more precise, he knew that he had to have The Cyclops open the giant door in order for them to get out. So he first got The Cyclops drunk, then when he passed out he stuck an olive tree branch in his eye and blinded him, next he tricked him saying his name was Nobody and lastly they were able to hide under the sheep to get out. One example, showing his resourcefulness when Odysseus got the Olive tree branch from Athena. This Olive tree saved them from getting trapped in the cave with The Cyclops and was used to stab The Cyclops in the eye. If Athena was not a resource of Odysseus then Odysseus could have died right in that cave.The Moly Plant that was given by Hermes which saved him from being turned into an animal by The Witch Circe. To explain, Odysseus was unaware of The Witch Circe trick and if his resourceful friend Hermes didn’t give him The Moly Plant his journey would’ve ended there.
According to many experts, true great leadership is found in those who are brave, clever and keen and have many resources. When Odysseus comes across any roadblocks or tough decisions he comes out with the right decision. Commitment is not a question for Odysseus; he has shown through time and time again that he will do whatever to succeed. Without a doubt Odysseus is an effective
