Is Islam a Mother lode of Bad Ideas?
Sam Harris claims Islam is the “mother lode of bad ideas.” Islam has become the home of terroristic events and fighting amongst people with the same religion, yet different views on how to live out their religion. Few people actually agree with the gruesome parts of the religion. The majority of Islam has five basic pillars they live by. Sam Harris’s idea that is simply a cluster of bad ideas is easily proven wrong if one actually takes the time to analyze the Five Pillars
The Five Pillars of Islam represent a much more peaceful idea of Islam. The actual Muslim believes in declaration of faith, daily prayer, alm giving, fasting, and pilgrimage. Christians also practice declaration of faith, daily prayer,

Muslims practice Monotheism, which is the belief in a single god. Muslims refer to god as Allah. They believe Jesus and Muhammad were divine prophets sent to deliver the word of Allah. However, they did not worship either of them as gods but simply viewed them as being very close to Allah.
Daily prayer is praying every day. Muslims are a bit more organized with this, from my understanding they pray five times a day facing Mecca at certain times throughout the day. Praying sounds like an awful idea doesn’t it?
Alm giving is also called Zakat, wealthier people are to donate a portion of their income to those in need. People of lesser wealth are to perform charitable acts. A person of lesser wealth may perform charitable acts such as smiling at strangers. Fasting is a practice of worship in which participants will refuse all food, drink, and any form of sexual contact for an extended period of time to prove their devotion to their religion. From dawn to dusk, during the month of Ramadan, unless one is sick or on an expedition where one cannot fast. If this is the case, the person on the journey is allowed not to fast for the duration of the journey, but will be expected to make up for the days which they did not
