A Biombo is a work from Christians and natives traditions using folding screens. What the biombo in the Closer look has in common with the casta painting on page 157 is that they have to do with two different nationally coming together and sharing their culture with one another. For example, the biombo shows the Palo volador, a tradition in the pre-Hispanic times where people would dress up as eagles or other birds and attach themselves to the top of the pole so they seem like they were “flying.” While this is going on you see the Indians dancing near the poles.
