Before reading A Child Called It, by Dave Pelzer, I had many misconceptions about child abuse. Previous to reading this book, child abuse was something surreal and not evident at all in my life, therefore I wasn’t educated about the subject and did not know much of it. However, after reading the memoir I learned a lot about child abuse and was able to further correct and educate myself about my misinterpretations about this topic.
A wrong idea I had about child abuse is that the victim will usually tell somebody about the abuse. “She wanted to know if I was happy. I told her I was.
