Bilbo Baggins, the main character from The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, changes dramatically throughout the book. Bilbo starts as a misfit and ends as a hero. There are many steps and actions Bilbo took to become a hero.

The first major step Bilbo took to become this hero was that he left to go on the adventure.This act takes major bravery because hobbits like himself, in particular, were not supposed to do these things. He chose to leave everything he knew, everything he was comfortable with, and everyday luxuries. He left it all to go on an adventure with dwarves he had never met, to help them.
