“The Bullet in the Brain”, it is a short story wrote by Tobias Wolff. Tobias was born in Alabama in 1945, and then he was raised in Washington State. He served four years in the military. He graduated from Oxford University and studied creative writing at Stanford University. He taught English courses and creative writing at Syracuse University for 17 years.
The story of Bullet in the Brain is about the main character Anders all the way from the beginning to the end. The story takes place at a bank. Anders arrived to the bank right before it close and with a line doubled around the rope in front of him as usual. This is not a big deal compare to what’s going to happen. While two women having an ignoring conversation ahead of him that makes him not in a good mood. Suddenly, there are two ski masked bank robber with business suits walk in. First, he tells the reader things what Andres do not remember but it seems to be very important to his life such as his first love, or his daughter. Instead, Tobias choice to write the things that he remembers was playing baseball game with other boys from the neighborhood. This is another setup that I think it is odd. Also, the author gives many details on things that he couldn’t remember than things that he actually does remember. I can’t ever tell what exactly a person had in mind before they die. However, generally the setup should be the other way around. Your love one and family should be the things that in the flashback, instead of telling us his childhood time playing baseball game with others. Even though I’m not too sure what’s the meaning behind to cause him wrote the setup this way, but he did bring out the point that when a person about to die the pass memories will comes up all of a
