The article Everything You Thought You Knew About L-o-v-e is Wrong written by Aziz Ansari, is in my opinion, a well structured and well presented article that overall is effective; however, it has some potential flaws. Although Ansari included various perspectives and facts to support his argument, he tended to ramble on with wordy and unnecessary sections. I think that because he is a comedian, he establishes a distinct tone, which is light and a bit satirical. I found him throughout having unnecessarily long sections such as Soul Mate vs. Laundry Detergent and Passion and Patience where he did make some really valid points and arguments, but, continued to add unnecessary commentary, such as, “when I think back to that sad peanut-butter- and -banana sandwich I had in Seattle” and a small paragraph about his tacos. …show more content…
Ansari should have put more of an emphasis on the biggest trends in the data collected. Which method is most popular? In order to achieve this he should have had a survey with only one option— what is your primary method of dating? By doing this, he is presenting more precise and more accurate information (the larger concepts). Hypothetically, as an individual if I was doing a survey, and option “a” was definitely more prevalent in my life, but I was given another option I may chose “a” and “c”. With more exclusive data, one can analyse the demographic more specifically to see larger trends, making it more meaningful. I do like how he did included visual data. He had an a lot of diversity in his study and his data, referencing multiple sources from different background and opinions — which was effective and I think makes the reader question the pros and cons of online dating and our society in
