John Keat’s “When I have Fears” is about him having fear of death because he is scared that he will not get a chance to write all of the poetry he wanted. He also wants love and fame but realizes that it is not worth it. Twenty One Pilot’s “Truce” is about how one day, everyone will die but it is worth to keep going and live in the moment. Although John Keat’s “When I Have Fears” and Twenty One Pilot’s “Truce” are different by their tone shifts, they are both similar in themes and subjects talked about.

In verse one he sings, “Now the night is coming to an end, The sun will rise and we will try again”. He is saying that by night time, he piles up all his thoughts questioning his purpose in life. However, he gives a message of hope telling his fans that they are not alone and that each day they have the strength to recover.
In “When I have Fears”, Keat portrays various themes throughout the poem including his fear of death and insecurities. Since he has tuberculosis, he believes that he will have a short life span. He thinks that he will not get to write all of his books he wanted to. He conveys this in the last two lines, “Of the wide world I stand alone, and think, Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.” This means that he is isolating himself from his emotions because he accepted the fact that he will not achieve his goals in life.
In Twenty One Pilot’s “Truce”, the main idea of this song is that Joseph is saying people will eventually die, but for now you can be proud of your accomplishments and take pride in yourself. In the hook, he sings “You will die, but now your life is free, Take Pride in what is sure to die”. By saying this, he wants people to know that even if you die, you will die knowing that you were free doing what you wanted to
