In Neil Postman’s book Amusing Ourselves to Death, he states “If politics is like show business, then the idea is not to pursue excellence, clarity or honesty but to appear as if you are, which is another matter altogether “(Postman, 126). The argument he is making is that politics is no longer about the message itself but how it is delivered it on television. In a society in which everyone has been brought up with television and other forms of media as entertainment, the expectation now is that everything on television should now be entertaining. Politics is no longer about which candidate can argue their platforms better, but rather which candidate can do show business better. Politics has turned into a sporting event in which voters are
