Women in these present times are still the world’s stronghold. But the world continues to display women as inferior beings especially African American women. Sojourner Truth’s speech Ain’t I a Woman? portrays women as strong and independent people that can handle themselves through various situations such as being threatened by brute force or having to take care of their families on a fixed income. She goes in depth with having equal rights for African American women that white women have the opportunity to have. Overall Truth’s speech speaks to every type of women which allows her to give empowerment to multiple women during her time as well as today’s women. Women of minority have conflict with equal rights based on the rights of women that are the majority. Sojourner Truth brought much concern to this issue through her speech. She gave her details of the African American view by saying “Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles, or gives me any best place! And ain't I a woman? Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns.” Truth voiced her struggle of not receiving the some rights of her white counterparts and working her hardest in the fields while they are helped into carriages. African American women have fought for this right from Truth’s time to now. They work hard hours to get to somewhere successful but find that their white counterparts have receive some type of raise or improvement that they have strived to get to. As the world has become more accepting of African American women, these minority women still have trouble by not being married and being single mothers in a recession. A tremendous amount of African American women from today’s society see the need to stand up for their right to get certain opportunities that they are qualified for over their white
