According to Fouad et al. (2009 p. S7), there is a distinct necessity for an improved definition of competency-based readiness for practice entry. The Cube model identifies six foundational competencies and six functional competencies that overlap the stages of professional development (Fouad et al., 2009. P. S6). To be a competent professional, the individual must continually hone their craft by skillfully weaving all the components of foundational and functional competencies together. Although all of the competencies are equally important, integrity-honesty is the foundational competency I chose for this discussion.
