“The Monkey’s Paw” based on a story by W.W. Jacobs, it is clear that the film effectively establishes a ominous mood through the use of visual images, audio effects and chilling dialogue. In the beginning of the film there is a lot of suspenseful and ominous audio. A person watching the film could hear roar of the thunder, loud rain, and vivid lightning. In “The Monkey’s Paw” whenever the paw was mentioned you would hear suspenseful music warning you of what was to come next. There was also a loud thud and knocking when Herbert was back from the dead. This surprised the audience and added to the ominous mood of the film.
