Plums are sweet and delicious if they could be a person nobody would be able to stay away because their too sweet. What this poem is about is this person who has someone eles's plums in an ice box that he suspected that they were for their beakfast and once he sees the people whos ice box he had gotten into and ate their plums he says "forgive me they were so delicious so sweet and so cold." He wants to be forgivied and off the hook but he dont feel as sorry becuase they were so good it was worth for the other persons dissappointment.

The kind of characers in this story is wanting forgiviness and he didn't mean anything harmful to others because he apploigized as soon as he finished eating them. The theme of this poem is that he feels gulity
