In Thoreau essay Civil Disobedience, he argued that, “Government is best which governs least” . He claims, people will someday be able to have a government that does not govern at all. He also stated that government hardly proves to be useful and productive, but that it is “abused and perverted”. These types of actions no longer represent the good of the people. Thoreau disobedience to the government was against the Mexican-American war and slavery. He argued that it was unjust and that it is the duty of the people to be disobedient to the government for not listening to the many citizens who want to end slavery and the Mexican-American war. Some have already been defiant, for example, Huffington Post states that Based on a poll of 93 trans people conducted in 2008 and 2009, 70 percent “reported experiencing being denied access to restrooms, being harassed while using restrooms and even experiencing some forms of physical assault.” Also, Huffington Post claims that the people who oppose the right to use the restroom are politicians, religious righters, and regular ol’ citizens. The opposers believe that transgender are out to rape little children and woman, yet this has not happen. According to the Huffington post, there has not been one incident where that has happened. Yet the opposers are willing to give up their child's education for the not allowing people to use the restroom. Most people would not waste their time to dress up as the opposite sex to commit such a crime. There's more of a chance that the person may dress up as a favorite cartoon character to commit such a crime. Thoreau, of course, believed that government should not interfere with people's liberties. But politicians and some people are willing to give up children's education for public restrooms. This is not conscience but shows how useless some politicians are. Instead, they could figure out ways to remove themselves from people's
