The word courage has a lot of different meanings and it can be interpreted many ways. In James Elston’s poem called “Tribute to Courage”, he talks about the different ways people can express courage and how it can be used to help others and themselves. Elston also talks about how being courageous is not an easy thing and that it takes a lot of dedication to show your courageousness toward others. Even though courage may seem like a very easy thing to express, many people including myself have struggled with expressing confidence and courage because we have a fear of failing. Likewise, when you have a dream job or goal you are trying to achieve, it is very important to express your courage to show others you are strong. Because we live in a free country where everyone is entitled to their own opinion, there will be times where people praise you and criticize you for striving towards your American dream of being whoever you choose to be. In my opinion, overcoming criticism from others is one of the hardest things in life. To overcome this difficult challenge, you need to have friends and family to support you when things go wrong. When people tell you that your goal is not achievable, prove them wrong by working hard and achieving that goal. Additionally, when faced with a road block, it is always important to be tough and not run away from that problem.
