As Walters gets older he doesn’t like going to school and missed graduation. As Walter gets older he starts to notice Racism. Family is very important in this book because it causes Walter to not like his family. In the book it states Walter loved his family when he was younger. As Walter gets older Mom starts drinking and gambling and spends Walter money. Mom would read to Walter, teach him how to read, and they would always cuddle with each other. Since mom spent Walters money, Walter doesn’t talk to momma as he use to when he was younger.
