The Call of the Wild Analyzing Arguments “The Call of the Wild” is a book written by Jack London about a dog named Buck during the Klondike Gold Rush. During this time Buck has an abundance of masters who treat him differently. One possible central theme for this story is that animals, though they rely on instinct, have emotion too. This is proven by how Buck acted differently for each master he had. One way this theme is shown is when Buck acts lazy and commanding when he was living with Judge Miller, before he entered the gold rush. In chapter one, Buck is shown to lie down all day and do most of nothing. This shows how lazy he was for his time at Judge Miller’s.
