Analyzing Joseph's Behavior

 Joseph rarely raises his hand to speak in class and will blurt out answers when the teacher calls on another.
 He is very loud and often yells unnecessarily.
 During quiet time and individual work time, he will distract his classmates by trying to start conversations, or just annoying them in general.
 Teacher has to stop instruction at times to deal with Joseph’s misbehavior.
 When the other students get distracted, their work is interrupted
 Students who raise their hands and wait to be called on do not always get the chance to participate and answer questions.
 Other students are distracted and are not able to focus on their work and answer questions to the best of their ability
 The teacher immediately addresses problems when they occur, so they do not significantly affect the

 During group work he struggles to stay on task.
 Before recess and lunch, when he has a lot of pent-up energy, he becomes very animated.
 High energy atmospheres. The class is a sixth grade one, so students often are excited and have a lot of energy. That itself is great, but the excitement can lead to Joseph’s disruptiveness and disregard for the rules.
 Adding an away-area, maybe in the hallway, for when he misbehaves too often or is overstimulated. He would sit outside until he calmed down and could stay well-behaved.
 Maintaining a quieter classroom in general. Joseph is not the only student who yells unnecessarily and noise level can lead to misbehavior.
 Removing attention, whether positive or negative. The teacher has encouraged the students to ignore him when he is disruptive, but they do not always do so. They will either engage him in conversation or just tell him to be quiet. Acknowledging him in any way and gives him attention, which reinforces the behavior.
 Joseph sits in the middle of class. Moving him closer the teacher could make him less inclined to
