The main claim of this article is that MLK’s strategy focuses on attaining enemy’s sympathy and obtaining adherent’s credence. Yan supports his argument by analysing rhetoric in MLK’s speech “I Have a Dream.” He points out that MLK used “extended metaphor of unpaid debt to justify the African American rationale for protest” and he also mentions that MLK invoked “his children to symbolize innocence and virtue”(94).
