Black Magic Woman: I chose this song becuase Santiago turn advice from a gypsy. A gypsy is a woman who works with dark magic in order to tell your fortune. The song is all about a “Black Magic Woman”. Many upbeat and intense beats are used in order to describe the “gypsy”. That why I chose this song fro this part of the story.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The reason this song fits to this part is because the King of Salem tells Santiago about his personal legend. This works because Santiago’s life turned upside down when he heard about his legend. Melchezedik told him many stories involving good moroles and how to act. He tells him to sit down and listen to what he has to say. The King of Salem tells him many important things and Santiago starts

Psychosocial: The song says “I’VE DONE MY TIME AND I WANT OUT” His time was the year he worked for the crystal merchant. Then Santiago contemplates going back to the life of a shepherd over his personal legend. Then it says “So effusive fade It doesn’t cut The soul is not so vibrant” Meaning the path of the shepherd is not very vibrant because he realizes he can always go back to being a shepherd. Santiago chooses to continue his legend because he has the one shot and is not missing his chance to “blow”. The song fits perfectly to how Santiago chooses how to continue his life.

I picture it was like a daydream moment while the song plays in the background. This song is about love between two people. In this case Santiago and Fatima. Marvin Gaye portrays love in a majority of his songs. The beat is meaningful and has and passionate beat which shows the love between Santiago and Fatima.
Lean On Me: Many people have their so called “rock” that they lean on. The Alchemist helped Santiago through a rough patch in his journey. This song talks about that you have someone to help you out. Santiago may not have finished his journey if not for the Alchemist. Santiago was able to lean on him for when he needed some help. The song helps people realize that you should always have someone to go to when you need to.
I get Knocked Down: Santiago has lost everything. His treasure wasn’t there and he was robbed of everything he had. Even though he had lost everything, he continued to the church and got the treasure there. The song means even if you get knocked down you get back up
