The movie opens with Mallory and Mickey, who are husband and wife, killing a bunch of patrons in a diner. Mallory does a sick kind of eenie meeny miny moe, and decides who the one survivor of the massacre will be. After that, there is a flashback to when the pair met at Mallory’s house. Her father was sexually abusing her, so she and Mickey too her father’s car and ran away. He was arrested for grand theft auto, but escaped prison. The pair went back to Mallory’s house and killed her father and mother but spared her little brother. They get married and celebrate by taking a hostage. They stop at a gas station where Mallory kills another person, and Mickey decides to assault the hostage. Their prolific killing spree goes on for some time, …show more content…
While performing a ritual to drive out Mickey’s demons in his sleep, Mickey has nightmares and wakes up and kills Red Cloud. This part of the movie is significant because it is the first time the two feel guilty for murdering someone. They are both bitten by rattlesnakes while making their escape, so they decide to head to a drugstore. At the drugstore, the pharmacist manages to call police before Mickey kills him. The police capture Mallory and beat her while there is a gunfight between them and Mickey. Detective Scagnetti threatens to hurt Mallory, so Mickey gives up and attacks him with a knife. However, the police soon overwhelm them and the police beat both of them as a news crew looks on. One year later, the couple is being moved to a mental hospital because they were declared insane. Detective Scagnetti arranged with the Warden to get the two alone and kill them during the transfer, and lie about it claiming they tried to escape. Gale, the reporter, has made Mickey agree to do a live interview right after the Super Bowl. In his speech, he makes a disturbing statement that he is a natural born killer (hence the movie title).
