Analyzing The Movie 'The Outsiders'

The movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and written by S.E. Hilton and Kathleen Rowell, produced in the year 1983 was a moderately entertaining movie. “The Outsiders” was a movie about a gang who were all Greasers, when one of them kills a Soc their life becomes difficult and they have to rely on each other to get through it. The actors chosen to play each role in the movie were accurate for their physical and personalities characteristics. Some of the actors were better than others such as Johnny Cade played by Ralph Macchio. While reading the book I imagined him looking a lot like Ralph, and acting like his personality. In the book they said he looked and acted like a puppy who had been kicked too many times and in the movie he did live up to how the author explained him. Another actor was Matt Dillon who played Dallas Winston or better known as Dally he was a very impactful character in the book an example of this is his attitude he did not care in the book he thought he would not be caught. The costume directors and set designers did an effective job of making the houses, props, and clothing accurate. The costumes fit to the time era and the Greaser look because they dressed in leather clothing that were worn down and dark colors. The rivals the Soc’s, were the upper class wealthier people and they succeeded of showing the difference between them. The Greasers wore dark grungier clothing as the Soc’s wore bright nicer clothing such as madras shirts. As far as the editing most of it was good but at times when they tried to fit a lot into one scene it made it
