In the poem “Mother to son”, it shows how his mom is trying to teach him about life. The mother is also telling her son that the road isn’t always smooth and straight. One quote from the poem is, “Life ain’t been no crystal stair, it had in it tacks, splinters, boards torn up, and places with no carpet in the floor bare.” The mother is giving a life lesson to her son.
