The Mayans and the Ancient Egyptians were not exactly two peas in a pod, but still had alot of things in common. The Mayans were an early civilization in Mesoamerica that were very intelligent and created a lot of things we still use today. Ancient Egypt was a civilization of ancient Northeastern Africa, concentrated along the lower reaches of the Nile River in what is now the modern country of Egypt. There was a only six civilizations to rise up independently, and ancient Egypt was one of them. Ancient Egypt and Maya were more similar then different. Both cultures were polytheistic with rulers that represented gods on earth. Also both cultures built large cities that featured housing, administration buildings, and funerary and religious structures. They differed because their pyramids were used for different reasons.

One reason why Ancient Egyptians and Mayans were similar is that they both built large complex cities with many different buildings for different uses. Ancient Egyptians had an elaborate polytheistic religion that may at one time had more than 2,000 gods. Though individual gods rose and fell in respect, the idea of lots of gods and religion in everyday life remained throughout most of Egyptian civilization. Like the Egyptians, The Mayan religion was Polytheist, and they worshiped more than 165 Gods. The Gods were like humans. They were born, grew up and died. Gods would do other human like things that was considered acceptable behavior. Over all these two civilizations were very alike because the Egyptians worshiped many gods just like the Mayans and in both places gods were used in everyday
